AK Coburg DR0012
  • Felix Draeseke: String Quartet nr. 3 in c#, op. 66 (1895)
  • Felix Draeseke: Suite for Two Violins, op. 86 (1911)
The Hölderlin String Quartet... sound absolutely terrific, with a wide range of expression, vitality, and sensitive ensemble playing.
(from a review at classical.net)
Artists: The Hölderlin Quartet (Rebecca Martin, Violin; Christian Friedrich, Violin; Andres Mehne, Viola; Teemu Myöhänen, Violoncello )

The String Quartets of Felix Draeseke - Volume 2 (click for larger version)Following our release of Draeseke's first two string quartets (DR0011) is this recording of Draeseke's third, and final, quartet coupled with the composer's Suite for Two Violins, op. 86 (1911). With this recording, all of Draeseke's chamber works are now available on CD.

The Hölderlin String Quartet was formed in 2005 and presents performances of the string quartet repertoire at the highest level. Each of the individual members enjoys a broadly diverse musical knowledge and innumerable instances as soloist and as members of other chamber music and orchestral groups. Finely delineated and nuanced interpretations delivered with infectious energy characterize the playing of these young artists. The quartet has played throughout Germany including concert performances of the three quartets of Felix Draeseke in 2007.
